How esentual is it?

When stripping a running beetle engine for replacing main bearings, would i need a reline bore?

How bad is your forward back play in your crank ??? when pulling on the pulley.

Max spec on crank endplay is 0.15mm.

easy way to check if a line bore is rqd is to see if there are ridges pounded into the case main bearing saddles, if you can catch the ridge with your fingernail it's linebore time.

If the end play is excessive you need the thrust saddle recut and a matching bearing machined to fit the recut thrust saddles.
