Sheet Metal Course July '13

Post by Barry »

We ran another successful course this past weekend. Great group of guys came at it with enthusiasm and energy.
The courses teach basic concepts and techniques using hand tools. While this makes it difficult to complete any large panels in the time available, students leave with the knowledge to be able to create any panel from flat sheet.
By sticking to hand tools (though we do look at some of the machines that save time) the guys are able to immediately go home and carry on practicing.
The key in sheet metal shaping is understanding how to make the metal move - only then can you get the best benefit from machines like the wheeling machine, bead rollers, shrinkers etc etc.
Here are some pics of the fun:

Richard (Junior) just joined me in the shop, and the course was his baptism of fire - he did great work and I am looking forward to building some really cool stuff with him!

I was one of the students this past weekend and I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to complete a rebuild to a high standard. Thanks Barry, I had an enjoyable three days in your shop. I have renewed enthusiasm to tackle my next build armed with a new set of skills.
