Scat C65 camshaft

Post by 4agedub »

I've got two Scat c65 camshafts for sale @R650.00 each.
Both in good condition, cam lobes almost brand new. One of them was purchased from Martin Radel about a year ago, the other one I bought from Chris Swart around 2003. I have no use for them any more as my engine is currently being changed to turbo and my dad's engine is running a fk89.

I think scat claims the camshaft to work from 4500 - 7000rpm. At highveld altitude it actually works from about 3000 - 6500rpm. It makes loads of torque low down and can be used on the street without any issues.

This is the dyno graph with the c65 camshaft

Nope!

Mid to big size engines, with the correct oil pump and other sundries, with at least 44 IDF Webers (or the like) providing the aspiration.
Good cam, for when you are, or plan to build that big engine.

Ok but bear in mind Triton is building a Formula Vee so will be looking for the upper rev range oomf and the exhaust is most likely a tuned 4 into 1 and there will be some work done on the engine and and and...

Triton, why not come to Ferdi's and we can ask him about FV cams...
From fastest to slowest:

Birkin race car, not much is standard
Lotus Elise 111R, almost everything is standard
'75 SP 1600 with a few mods

It all depends on the application. I have used a c65 cam on a 1680cc engine before with dual 40mm webers and a merged exhaust. It produced good torque and was pretty drivable. On the small capacity engine it did make power a little higher up and kept it for longer. That engine went to 7500 real quickly. :)

On a light vehicle even better.

Yep, sorry guys - it is for a formula vee. Hi there James hope to see you at the races on the 10 August. We have a 7 aircooled vee's racing. ( only 3 can make the 10th :( ) I guess Ferdi would be best to ask about the cam. We found another vee in V town( 1988 era) doing a total rebuild too. I hope to see your car soon on the track

I have a engle VZ 25 which I'd like to try on the 1300 Single port- Counter weigh crank and light fly wheel. The current motor idle smoothly at 2000 rpm Pulls great from 3000 to 6400. I only using 3 -4 around Zwartkops( 4500- 6200 Rpm)
