I was also surprised at how excited the guys get when they find these old tools, especially when the same guys remark on the quality of the actual tools not being that great (EDIT, the original Hazet tools are top notch, it's the repro sets that are not good).
You should look up the Hazet Assistant tool trolley they like those too! If you really want to get some of them excited, find some old dinky cars (die cast toy cars). They LOOOOOOOVE those almost as much as I love olives.

Look at the asking prices of these on thesamba.com.

Even empty, rusty round boxes are priced at USD150 upwards. Complete sets with NOS or good condition tools are advertised for USD1,200. Since they don't stay advertised for long, we can assume they fetch close to asking price. Individual tools for these sets are advertised from USD30 to USD150 each.

I have bought incomplete sets locally for R2k-R2.5k. A forum member bought a near NOS set a few years back for R6.5k. I look for tools for these sets in pawn shops and at swap meets and regularly find them for R30 to R50 a piece.

These are hard to find, but I wouldn't call them rare. I searched for them for years without finding any for sale, but quite a few have come out of the woodwork locally over the past few years.

@Drusky, the quality of Hazet tools is top notch; you may have heard people commenting on the Chinese Empi replicas, where the "tools" are for looking at only.

Thanks for that correction fig :) While I don't care much for these sought after bits and pieces, I think your blue dc early bay is a lovely lovely gem!

Like Fig said, Hazet tools were top notch, and still are. They are the preferred tools for makers like VW (DE) Porsche and Mercedez Benz and many more...

The best VW Hazet tool kit in my collection, I easily estimate its worth at over R10.000

I know of a friend, also a ACVWSA member who bough 2 sets at over R16000 each. Dont think crazy.... think pedantic and picky for originality and quality.

I sold one of my Hazet trolleys to a forum member here in CT, and kept the better one for myself, and they perfectly compliment the VW Hazet round tool kit.

Think its time to visit my storage unit and take some inventory.... anyone wanna help me?
