My Fleetline caled Ouvrou

Post by dixtoy »

So after a long search I finally found a split for the right price in the right shape and she's on her way home :hangloose:

I know to most she may look like :bn: but I'm as happy as a previously disadvantaged child with a running nose

Great, you got your bus.
What she looks like now, is not important, what she will look like when you done is where the joy will be.

Enjoy

Hi Dixon.

How did you strip it down like that and how long did it take?
We have been scraping for some time now and have made hardly any progress.

It looks great by the way.

Hi Cyndi

I know some people will say its not the right way but I used flapper discs with a baby grinder.

I only took down to bear metal to find all the hidden rust and because some P.O cut out the Vw badge in front and covered the nose and cargo door side with about 5mm of filler, there was also about 4 different colors of paint on the bus.

It took one of my workers a week to do it as I told him to take it slow and not overheat the panels.

Thanks Herman, yes I was lucky to find one that is straight with minimal rust.

There's not going to be much more progress on it for now as I got all my goodies for my Beetle from Rui the weekend and want to finnish her first, I might just spray the bus clear coat for now and give it to Bugger next year to do a full restore
