Hi all and welcome.

Slow Lane, before you do think it's a bargain, it's not. Stock SA buses plus export costs plus shipping not far from UK prices.....

And then there would be all the authorities and the paperwork that I suppose would not make such a whole whack of work & all the costs worth it in the end..

....when I last went to ZA we hired a nasty little Japanese car and drove from Capetown to JB (via Krugger, Swaziland!, St Lucia ets), the "journey" was was epic, the car not so - point I'm making, I am not seeing this as a money making venture - more a ZA Adventure with a nice souvenir at the end...

(Sadly we ran over a Tokolishi that jumped out in front of us, we were going too fast to stop or swerve, all that was left was a bit of fur and pile of goo on the grill!)

A car leaving our shores is one less for us to love and cherish, at the rate the foreigners are buying our aircooled cars & parts my grand children will not know what an aircooled VW looks like!

Slow, maybe consider hiring a bus to do your trip....I promise if you thought this would be easy, it's not. I have done it and I would have been better (£ wise, stress wise, etc) to enjoy a holiday and buy a Bus in the UK. If you are interested in a UK bus, I might have a few contacts.

Hi folks
Been many a year since i was on the the forum. From the E Cape and have a 58 beetle in bits a pieces. Been in the family since 1966. My modern ride is an Audi, even though an Audi nut, my spare time is spent VW/Audi/Porsche interests. When funds allow, I work on the Beetle. Maybe one day it will be rust free and on the road !! I am not a great poster to forums, but read a lot and learn from the fundi's on the forum. Looking forward to hear all the chats again.
Cheers John

Hi Everyone

My name is Heron vd Westhuizen. My wife Surine Daniek (5) and Liané (2)
We live in Pretoria. I have been a VW fan all my life and have been driving VW's (watercooled) for a long time. I feel that VW is probably the most loved brand in the world, the adverts of the 1980's stuck in my head since i was just a little boy.
When someone recently said that VW fans has lost their passion and will be taken over by tupperware brands from Korea and other brands like ford and Toyota, i was the first to dissagree. Some of my friends have the new Amaroks, and some has the old air cooled Beetles and others the Golf GTI and others the Caddy bakkies. The old shape 1989 shape. I know they all love their cars but i was so dissappointed when i realised that these great fans don't sit around the same fire as a Air-Cooled fans and the modified GTI high performance fans is of a different bread all together, not to mention the new market of the Amarok fans who has invested into a bakkie to take on the likes of the Hilux.

After a breakfast run with my friend in his 1976 Beetle and having sat in the oldest Split window beetle and just after that in the newest 2003 Ultima edition i realised that i could bring these people together to share the one thing we all have in common and that is the love for the brand.

I now am the event organizer of the Guinness World Records Attempt happening on 2 November 2013
