Seen a thread on the samba site about lowering the
front on the 1303 using golf 1 shock inserts and honda
springs on the 1303 struts .
Might have bookmarked the page will have a look
and put up the link.
Looking for some 15'' mags for the gt .something that will
look cool .also want to lower the golf.i've got cabrio
front and rear springs they are 20 mm shorter .dont
know if they will make a difference .
If you find it the please post the link I'd appreciate it greatly..
I'll keep an eye out for any decent 15" mags, the cabrio springs might make a small difference..

Thanks Martin, the progress is painstakingly slow, it frustrates me, but what can you do, I'm limited by time & money, not to mention the fact that I'm working on 3 cars at once..
One day......might not be so far away, the right car is out there, patiently waiting for you to find it..

Doing it right and proper the first time, best way to do it, one thing at a time. Progress looks great. Time and money and more than one project on the go ........... sounds very familiar Does this madness ever end
Cool pics, keep them coming

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

I totally agree, I want to drive this car looooong after I'm done with it, so doing it right is the only option, it's gonna cost a small fortune, but to me its worth it.. Thanks.. Aren't most of us in this boat, a bit (or should I say stark raving) mad about our hobby (or just in general )
I'll post as many pics as I can, when I can, so be on the lookout for them..

I'd love to get a 1303... and build one mean race car with a- arms in the front and irs in the back.
One day.... far into the future (or when I win the lotto ) when I have a house with more space, I'd like to see if I can find another one or even a 1302 and get into historic racing myself..
I bet they'd handle awesome on the track with the right goodies and properly set-up.
P.S. I dig the new toy you have, I think that 914 is gonna be heaps of fun!

Tinfontastic wrote:Hi Riaan, where did you get the disk brakes and bracket. I also want to do a modification. Thank. Your ride will look awesome.
I actually had Volkspares order it for me from the USA (EMPI), this was because of the car being an import (4x130 PCD and I had a machine shop drill & tap the 4x100 Pcd on there for me), they do have a local kit for the locally produced beetles too that utilizes Golf MK1 parts and is much cheaper than the kit I had ordered, but there are other guys too that can do the local kit, I think Rui (Calooker) can do them.. and if you are ambitious then I suppose you can do it yourself too, but I think it will cost a fair bit more (unless you have your own lathe & milling machine or a buddy that owns a machine shop)..
Oh.. and welcome to the forum, I see you joined very recently..

No, there was different models from the base 1303, the 1303L the 1303LS to the 1303S. I think mine was the 1303 base or 1303L because they came std from the factory with drum brakes and lesser trim levels & options/creature comforts than the others..
