1973 VW 412 project from Namibia

Post by andersonj »

Hi guys,

So I have taken on a new aircooled project, and you guessed it, it's a VW 412 Variant.
I Also have an original 1967 Split Bus in driving condition, does not even have new window rubbers yet completely stock and looking good.

Another project was completed in 2008 and still in my possession a 68 Bay with a 2l type 4 motor conversion.

But what's keeping me busy now is a 412 Variant, I've always liked them and thought to myself wouldn't the "last aircooled vw" be a cool project and now its a reality :)

I am posting my progress on 'TheSamba' site but will be posting the link, here you go:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=568824

I am trying to make this a quick project so I can start on my 67 split.
So please check it out, leave your comments and I will revert back.

I am most likely going for the original color which is a dark green. I am hoping to send it to the panel beaters in November, I hope my planning is on track, normally with projects there is always unforeseen speed humps, and I hate speed humps :)

update:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=568824

The 412 has gone to the painters, the doors are not included as they are not great and have been trying my best to find someone in SA with parts for these vehicles as there are only 3 of here in Windhoek and I own one, the others are driving so no luck here.

I could not wait any longer as Im trying to stick to a timeline. I will be reinstalling what parts I have until I am left relying on outside sources. So if you guys know or have parts for the 412 variant and are willing to sell, please let me know.

I will be updating as I go check the progress at the shop.

enjoy the weekend
