My 71 bug project
Over the weekend i started by ripping out the old floor carpet and laying new, starting to look better inside now. Next step is to fit the new seats and then to see what to do with the dash..... its been covered with 16mm wood that was covered in black leather....not so cool, will have to come up with another idea as i will be installing a 7" tablet. will post some pics soon.
Current project, 71 beetle 1600

Depends.. you keeping the car that colour?shawnmr wrote:Lucky i got mine...took them off to clean up as they where painted, some small repairs to be done, will post pics once done....still dont know if it will look good if i have them cleaned up and complete mirror polished. What you guys think?
If yes then I vote for the silver the mags come in as standard..
If no, and you go with a dark colour like black or something then the polished idea is cool.
Remember, polished mags are a bitch to keep shiny & looking nice (don't know if you can clear coat them without the coating coming off at a later stage)

Re: My 71 bug project
Mirror is a PITA, I wouldnt do it. Plus the car has to look right to have mirror rims otherwise it looks shite.
Dark colour, make all the spokes blend in and looses the effect.
I would also stick to the "natural" colour.
If you want something different, go natural but all the "recessed" bits (those bits 3mm deeper than the rest), have those done in a gunmetal
And remember, the rims need to be powder coated, not painted. R3000 mistake that I made - refer to the last page of my car thread

Re: My 71 bug project
Mmmm, originally i was only gona have them all refurbished to original, was playing with the idea of going matt black for the car, dumped that to, i like the color it is at the moment, not something you see every day. Thanks for the input guys, mind made up, restoring the Hockys back to original
