Lhd 62 beetle?

Post by Airkewld76 »

I bought a 62 Lhd last week, How do I confirm it is a factory Lhd or if it was converted? Also my chassis number is 1162034768, is this really a 62??

Cheers

Since probably 9 out of every 10 cars built are LHD it's unlikely anyone would convert RHD to LHD. LHD conversions to RHD are far more likely.

A simple check would be to peak under the dash and look at the front panel, which has pressings for the steering shaft on both left and right. If the RHS of the panel has no sign of a hole or plug where the steering tube goes, then it's likely not converted.
