Hahaa! Fig, back up a bit
. Both you and Dixtoy were bang on the money when seeing the fresh air tubes that are now connected only, it's not so much them, but their positioning that was what I was hoping someone would notice...
This bus runs a locally produced Tuffex silencer and 'pipe due to the fact that none of the major manufacturers are producing new stock exhaust systems for these vehicles. Albeit that Tuffex are doing a grand job, no aftermarket manufacturer has created a system with heat exchange boxes so as to be able to hook up a stock heater system.
The heaters on this bus had to work so Bill came up with a brilliant idea of bypassing where those leaky, rattly exchangers would be and to feed the actual heater boxes directly from the shroud. What I was hoping someone would notice is the fact that the fresh air tubes are pinched in considerably more at their base than on a stock set up. This was done to miss the exhaust outlets from cylinders 3 and 4. It's not as easy as it seems as it can only work on '67 tin due to it's u-shaped moulding of pulley and apron tin. The original heat exchange holes in the apron tin were sealed and new holes - closer together - cut. Steel tubes were then welded in situ' in the tin for those snazzy (well spotted fig) flexi tubes to connect and clamp to both on top and underneath. Airflow is a direct feed and frighteningly impressive.
No doubt a lot of you will feel let down at it being something that obvious but it did manage to fool you for just a while
.

By the by, all the necessary has been gotten together to apply the same modification to my '63 Panel van as winter is very much on it's way!

Nice to have a working heater system.
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.
