New motor goes in, the speedo stays the same.

With performance engines you cant change the km's everytime you change a engine " Aint no body have time for that"

K, whatever's going on 2 threads up, I'll just ignore, looks like a load of horse to me..

I bought the old wheel off Muds.. This one.


First thing was to extend those grooves in each spoke. Went through 3 big cutting blades on my Dremel, but eventually got there..



Had to cut off three "brackets on the rear..



Grooves cut out, looking a lot better.



Lots of grinding, sanding, and filling with powder and superglue, then more sanding and filing.



Good enough for the time being. I know I'll replace it with a better wheel later on, but for the immediate future, it'll work.. Spray with flat Silver.



And Spray with a Dark Gloss brown.



Then do a round Disc fabrication to cover up the spare holes, and mount a modified hooter from the old wheel. Works, hoots, and looks fine for now.



Sunday it's the Obs Vintage day, and then it's strip time. Next weekend, I take it in to toe bodyshop for some "nip and tuck" and a makeover. Am DESPERATELY waiting for responses from The Kit Car Places in JHB for the remaining bits, including a new Roof, Tonneau cover, carpet set, dash accessories, and hopefully will buy the outstanding items and get them during April, when I get the Speedster home from the bodyshop and Project rebuild begins.

Thought about rounding the edges of the slots? Would really give it that edge.........

Updates.

Car's been in the Bodyshop for 2 weeks already. Confirmed from my body guy the car had a right, rear prang and was repaired with lots of body filler.. So that's all being chopped out and re-glassed, as well as all the other areas I wanted fixed. Indicators going flat onto body, all cracks and pressure cracks cut out and re-fibreglassed, dash closed up completely for new clocks and detail.

Got the Window Frame Mirror Chromed, looks awesome. Ordered a TAN Roof and Side Skirts, Tonneau cover from the States, so that's on it's way. In the meantime, I'm preparing everything to go back in, including the 3 gauges.. I stripped them down, re-did my faces to Kmh, and updated the Tack to look more original. Now looks awesome.
Lastly, have got a mate to redraw all the scripts, and am getting them cut and Plated, pics to follow on that.

Lekker job on that steering wheel

FCUKIT!!! Bought new replacement Windscreen rubber, and after almost an hour of gently fitting and squeezing this into the frame, the Windscreen cracked from the one corner!!! It's such a bloody tight fit, and the frame is obviously not 100% tot he Windscreen shape.. Pissed off.. Another 2 Grand down the tubes. Have just ordered another one from Classiccarwindscreens. Going to ask him to help re-fit when I go collect it...

Took a break, calmed down, had another look.. The refitting process is going to require a mix and match of Rubber, Silicone, and possibly sponge. The Frame is not 100% even all the way round the glass when it sits in the frame without rubber.. The top corners are for sure problematic, and that's where mine cracked.. Looks like I'll have to cut off the one side of the rubber profile I have, so it doesn't stress the glass against the frame, and then put more rubber down each side arm. Once it's resting in the frame, I'll use sponge, or Black Silicone, and squeeze some in the cavity between the glass and the frame. Let that dry and it should be sufficiently protected. Ready to be refitted when the car comes home in a few days time. So FYI, this isn't doable with one, solid pierce of "U" profiled rubber.. It needs a little mix and match on each corner.
