Those safari's look really well made! Always wanted some but in the UK, they really need to be waterproof and haven't found any that come close.

Re: 1967 Splitty in the works
you've some good wood working skills very well made .i too am a carpenter myself love it this is what we do just watch out for your fingers while cutting pannels hey .
i would know .
had 11 stitches thank god it didn't hit the bone did an x -ray 4 fingers the index and the pinky were bad the other two only the top layer of skin . all good now. Now i'm extra cautious .if you using a jig saw then its fine safer for . .we have a big pannel saw .
did you use 3.5 mm or 6 mm board the thin one warps if it gets any water .
have you decided on the color yet .
cool build .

Re: 1967 Splitty in the works
Thx.These Safari kits I'm making will have the correct rubber seals & won't leak, I know the trick to why they start leaking....more on that later.
I've been around machines my entire life & been restoring old vehicles full time for the last 13yrs...... So safety is always 1st. The C-channel I'm using is exactly as the original size, the adjustment bars I'm fabbing now is also 100% correct & will be chromed.
As for the colour, that will be the same white as the body, but those interested in buying these sets, will get them in red oxide primer, ready to be painted your choice of colour, this will also be the same on the beetle safaris soon to come
