Static / Alternator whine on car speakers
Hi guys, I have a minor irritation with my sound install, I am getting alternator whine in my speakers, running an amp and earthen all components to the same point in the car, directly on the chassis. Is there anything else I am missing?
I love car parts, I love money...one of these takes money the other brings happiness...

Re: Static / Alternator whine on car speakers
I have the same issue on my mazda and some of the advice that I was given helped, maybe it can help you
split your earth points (dont run them all to the same point). Make sure they are really good earths.
Dont let your RCA's cross a power or ground line. Twist your RCA's
Otherwise, turn down your gain - this did the most for me, but then again, i did hugely over-amp the car (6x 140WRMS + 1x 400WRMS)
In my beetle I ran 2x85WRMS and 1x300WRMS and never had a glitch
Ran the radio off a fuse, amp off the battery and separate grounds and never heard a buzz of noise.

^^^^ yup.
RCA's one side of the car, power the other side. Multiple ground points work the best. I also didn't use any of the cars stock wiring, power or ground points, the radio was pretty much 100% standalone with the exception of the radio wired into the ignition.

You used to be able to get a suppressor for this, don't know if they are still available, contact your nearest sound shop, maybe they can still sell you one..
