Charity Calendar

Post by Tony Z »

Hey Guys

Its been a long time in the making and a even longer time forgotten. But if I dont start this now, I fear I never will.

My original idea with the picture of the month thread was to create a calendar each year with the previous full years worth of pictures.
i.e. in 2010 we would make a calendar for 2011 using 2009's pictures...

As said, I forgot about this and now I would like to get this started.
I have put together 12 pictures from 2007, 2008 and 2009
I didnt take any preference, I chose the biggest pictures as they would make nicer prints

Ron, it would be nice to include your wedding picture, but it is too small, send me a bigger one and I'll swap one out.

I have sent off a few emails asking for quotes. When I have more info I'll share it here.

The catch... it will be printed on demand. Payment up front and no extras after printing has started. At least for the first year anyway.

Proceeds.... initial costs will be covered. anything extra will go to charity.
I already have one charity eye-balled where my SO spends her Saturdays.

Thoughts? Comments? Keen? Stupid idea?
Please share your ideas with me before I really get this started.

I like the idea, and as said, hereby place the order for the 1st one.

Mater of fact, put me down for two, as I would like to give one out as a gift, to a VW aircooled friend.

I'm not sure how practical this might be, but it would be nice to keep the content "local"

i.e pics of local ZA beetles, busses, finished projects, historical pics, well known old timer VW dudes like Werner Alker, ACVWSA members, etc, etc - sometimes wrecks make stunning pics !

but Tony you might have a "mission" finding quantity and quality pics ?

Anyway, put me down as "keen" for the calender anyway bru - definitely not a stupid idea :hangloose:

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

Jolas, you have some valid points, which I have considered.
the biggest thing with "readers rides" is the content.
Its hard enough getting pic nominated for pic of the month, of which any picture qualifies. Now to limit this to "special" pictures, it will be difficult to do an annual calendar.
I am hoping that this wont be a once off, but rather an annual.

but nothing is stopping you from posting such pictures and nominating them ;-)
and besides, 90% of the pics in the pic of the month collection are local...

my thoughts anyway
