VW offer

Post by Watercool »

With the shop now slowly making headway, I meet all kinds of people, all kinds!!! Well one of the guys that has been coming by I found out is a huge VW fan with quite a few treasures hidden in a barn. I love it when he stops by, because we both speak VW fluently. So long story short, the other day we were taking Type 3's, and I mentioned I would love to own a square nose notch (70's) and I know he has one in the barn, but not said anything about it.

Forward a few days and he call and said that if I am out and about to stop by his place. Well I did a day or so later, he ask if I am still looking for a project VW, yes I am, getting my hopes up for the notch. He takes me to a lean too and shows me a Type 3 Ghia that he will sell me cheap. Now how cheap I don't know we did not talked price, I looked the car over and all the glass is good and the trim seems to all there, but all the rubbers will need to be replaced. In short it is a pan off resto, no matter how you look at it, could not see any rust.

Now I do like the Ghia's think they are very unique and there is not a lot in the country. But after a little research I found that parts are nearly non available for this car, or at least very very hard to find. Now I don't mind shipping in parts from around the world to do a quality resto, but I do not have the time nor the financial ability to do this at this time. But I do not want to let this car slip away, I thought to buy it and stick in the corner of the shop for later. I really want that notch.

What you guys think?

Kinda sums it up for me

Both the notch and ghia are nice cars. If the panels are straight on the ghia, I'd say go for it.

You can always sell it if it doesn't work for you, but it will be harder to buy it again by the sounds of things. Good luck. I say go for it.If you park it in the new shop, it will be an attraction and I'm sure good for business.

I am with you on this one.

Not being a Ghia man, but defiantly a Type 3 fan, I would make the following proposal....... :puterwork:

Get the Ghia, Make it work in the new shop as a crowd puller, then when you have time, swop it for a Type 3 Notch, and a hand full of cash...

Win...Win... seems to me...

Good luck Henry.
