I'm new to the forum, Ilove in the UK, don't worry I'm not a dealer or trying to take away all your VW's. I saw a posted on a UK site about loads of split beetles and I wanted to inform you of them :)

Hi, my name is Jaco.
I am a new member that registered in April. My first car was a SP that took me to Cape Town (no sleepover, long drive!)
I started collecting beetles then mostly pre 57, like to keep them original.

Howzit guys. My name is alex from joburg.. Always been a vw fan. Especially that my grandfather had a sky blue double cab van. Unfortunately I was still too young and had no money to keep it when they were selling. Still very sad that its gone. Anyways it is on my bucket list to eventually get my own bus. But for starters my dad and I have decided to start with a buggy as a project. So if anyone is thinking of selling half done project in the gauteng area I will be keen to come have a look. Keen on getting to chat on here cos I have already read some interesting facts and advice thats been given. Its awesome!!!

Hi. My name is Quintin. I live in Cape Town. Bought my first Beetle 7 months ago. It is a 1970 1300 single port. I love Beetles. Always wanted one. And now that I have one, I love them even more. Hope to get some good advice from Aircooledsa members. Have attached a couple of pics of Betty.

Howsit everyone
I guess you could say I am a bit of a splitscreen kombi nut. I have a '65 splitscreen campervan that I've been modding (added front disc brakes, irs rear suspension, 1.8 8v watercooled engine), basically a purists nightmare. If you've been to Oppikoppi or any other music festivals around Gauteng then you've probably seen it.
My dad has a splitscreen panelvan that we're restoring and my brother has a splitscreen doublecab that we'll start with soon.
This site looks very cool! so much knowledge and passion for VW's, love it!

Welcome Chris, there are plenty of Kombi nutters here :hangloose:

Does your '65 still have any of its original interior ? Please post more pics, start a new thread under "my ride"

Also pics of your dad's and boet's busses :D

Hi to all VW nuts. My name is Martin. And I'm from Rustenburg (for the time being; would like to be from somewhere in Western Cape  ). I've just completed an one-of Ratrod build, and I reckon the final product came out pretty sweet. The first Beetle I've had, was a '63 'hand me down' from my mom. The car has been in our family since I could remember, and my dad bought it brand new. We're currently busy restoring the '63 to its former glory - chrome and all. Second car was a 70s Salamander beach buggy, short wheel base with a 36 dcd7 Webber carb on a 1600 twinport. Man that thing was cool! Loved it and drove it like I stole it. I then decided to move on to more 'grown-up' cars, and picked up a 1983 Landy series 3 R6 (RSA military spec). It was never a restoration project and soon after purchase, I smacked in a 3L V6 Ford motor...lots of fun as a daily runabout (especially down-town areas  ). I then fell in love with a pretty girl (who incidentally loves all things Land Rover), and the Landy was just not practical anymore. I am now the owner of a Nissan Juke and Renault Sandero as my working car, and recently the Ratrod. So chaps, thanks for the awesome forum. I'm looking forward to give a hand to anybody interested in rodding their Beetle and of course, I'm open to positive criticism.

Hey guys
My name is Antony and im a born and bred Vale (Edenvale, JHB) boy. Im very much a newbie in regards to "playing" with cars but Ive always kinda been a car enthusiast. I have recently bought an old beach buggy which im planning on fixing up and getting back to what I hope will be a decent buggy. Im keen to learn as much as I can about about my new toy and im very sure this is the exact place I need to be in that regard.
Looking forward to this new exciting step. :D
