now looking for 1700 heads
.i everyone
I bought this engine last weekend with the intention of rebuilding it and fitting in my bus
But after getting prices on parts I've come to the conclusion that for my own pocket it would be better of to fit a golf engine.
If I fiited the aircooled 2.0 it had to be 100% perfect and reliable. So id rather fit a 2.0 golf engine that I know you can get parts anywhere and price on parts are reasonable and is reliable.
So what I have is a complete 2.0 CU (out of a vanagon) needs 2 barrels.
With complete 1700 fuel injection-harnass, ecu, injectors, manifolds, throttle body, airflow meter, fuelpump, home made accumulator etc.
if got a extra set of injectors also
There is some tin that I bought yesterday that the engine did not have.
There is also brand new rings(toni part)
I will be stripping the engine for parts or if someone wants to buy the whole lot...make me a offer
Or ill swop the whole lot for a gilo engineering adaptor kit
Thanks
Ferdinand

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

Hi Paul
Yes, for my bus... (runs and hides) I dont want to fit a golf motor to it but geez type 4 parts are expensive and scarce. I contemplating fitting a 1800 T1 engine?

yeah man - don't rush into it, consider all your options. Take a pic of the engine bay for us. I'm sure there will be constructive ideas for you.Kaptein wrote:Hi Paul

I do know some bus owners running with Golf motors, nothing was hacked, radiator fans mounted underneath, etc, etc. All done quite neatly and can be reversed if/when necessary. Your Deluxe just looks so nice man !

Re: 2000 type 4 fuel injection(1.7 fi)engine stripping
Have you really done your homework here? I cant believe that you are considering hacking that bus to fit a Golf engine because you think it will be more reliable. Original type 4 motor in that bus will be the most reliable and affordable way to maintain it.Kaptein wrote:Hi Paul

Re: 2000 type 4 fuel injection(1.7 fi)engine stripping
I may have jumped the gun on deciding what engine...but I wil never cut on my bus to fit a engine.
Im still weighing my options, I have a couple of guys that have offered type 4 engines to me since posting this ad.
I am a very impatient person, and if I want to do something I want to do it now...but even my father said I must just wait a while and see what happens.Something good may come up.
So at this stage nothing is going into the bus.

Re: 2000 type 4 fuel injection(1.7 fi)engine stripping
Don't waste money trying to buy unknown second hand engines, buy a reconditioned one and do it right once. I would personally keep it 100% original for your bus with the 1700 type 4. This will be the quickest way to get it going again too.Kaptein wrote:I may have jumped the gun on deciding what engine...but I wil never cut on my bus to fit a engine.

Re: 2000 type 4 fuel injection(1.7 fi)engine stripping-ON HO
Hi Ferdinand If you keep to 1700 there are some options regarding pistons which shouldn't break the bank. the bottom ends on the 1700 is unusually robust and you could have a nice engine built for not too many Rs there is a bit of a torque difference between 1700 and 2 liter but it shouldn't make a huge diff. I can point you in some directions
