Hi there all ACVWSA heads. Time for me to get a bit more active here. Some of the guys from Cape Town side will know me. I'm Gerlach and i own a 1976 T1 Beetle.

This model is a 1300 and is manifacturd 1975 and registered in 1976. It was a 5 year project were i strip the car down to the metal and full restoration. Every thing on this car is replace and all the work done by my self. The spray work was done by my dad. They call this cooler Lemon Chrome. Brand new rubbers all around, Stainless steel bolts, all new chrome bits, Brand new Empi Roof liner, Recaro Pole Position SPG seats with Recaro railings that I imported from the States , Fia racing 6 bolt seat belts with turn buckle. New carpet with under sound block , Momo Porsche EuroCupGT steering wheel, Empi Hurts Short shifter, all the lights lenses is is replace and all the rear lights is LED's " same ass the CSP rear lights" and the inside deal lights is replace with LED's, and some more stuff been done inside.

Front and rear brakes is replace and new pipes. The master cylinder is a 23.8mm Dual disc brake master cylinder. On the front i'm running golf Gti brakes with Ventilated Discs "planning to go over to AP 5200 4-pot with VR6 disc when the turbo motor go's in" . on the rear i'm running 4 x130 drum brake that is machine to take 4x100 studs.
The wheels i'm running on here is 16 inch Lenso BSX. the front is 7.5j with 195x40x16 Pirelli tyres and on the rear 9.5j "jip 9.5j!!!" with 205x40x16 Pirelli tyre that is stretch. Will change this to 225 or bigger with the new motor in.

Front Suspension is a adjustable lowering beam with anti roll bar build by Flat Four Racing. Racing king and link pins with all the stuff that needs to go with it. On the rear it's running Racing adjustable spring plates with urothane torsion bushes. still running stock shocks, but busy getting Gaz racing shocks and Airbag suspension to help lift the back for that "ot" places of riding.
Gearbox is standers, but that will be change with the turbo motor setup. gearbox is hold by a Transaxle strap Kit with urothane tranny mounts and torque bars , to take the strain of the gearbox with the motor.

It's still running the standers 1300 TP motor. I'm busy building the new motor for it, AND THIS IS NOT THE CHEAP PART OF THIS BUILD. The casing i'm using is a AS21 casing with 8mm studs and full flow and clean and ported out. It will be a 1835cc motor with a Hideaway turbo "same setup as the CB performance one" . The pistons i'm using is Mahle Forged pistons with graphite coating with 92mm Mahle Barrels. Heads that i'm using is brand new 041 with stainless valves and the things that need to be done on it. Crank is a 69mm counterweight crank with a lighter fly wheel with 8 dowel pins that is build by Dave from Flat Four Racing. Connection rods is polish and weight and shot pin and all the stuff still needs to be send in for balancing. Fueling is done with Dellorto 36 DRLA turbo carburetors. The turbo i'm using is a Rajay and running a 38mm external waste gate. the list go's on and on on this. Will keep up to post will all the things here.
Hope you enjoy the Photos and info.

Hi all.
I'm new here. I'm from Cape Town and have just purchased a 1966 Notch 1500s.
It needs a lot of work.

Lots of rust (obviously), lots of shoddy putty repairs-more repair work than what I will be able to manage.
Any advice/suggestions for who I can trust to do a full body repair?

Looking forward to learning from all of you experienced aircoolers!

Hi

I'm an owner of a 1976, 1300 beetle. It's been in my family for ages. Please have a look at my post about what to do next, also have a look at the photos and make a guess as to what this bug is worth now and what it would be worth after a good expensive restoration.

Thanks
D
