Hi all,
Anyone know (or know of anyone) who could identify and date a Porsche 911 motor serial number 6113008?. Having a lot of difficulty trying to get this info.
Many thanks
Webster.

Re: Identify a 911 engine?
Hi Webster
It could be a 2.2l engine out of a 1971 911T. I'm not 100% sure of this. Maybe post a picture?
Cheers

Re: Identify a 911 engine?
Thanks Werner. You could well be right. Its got two triple inlet Solex carbs and is conventional coil ignition with a Morelli distributor.
Problem is I need the correct date from the serial number as I need to get is SAVVA dated for rally purposes, Somewhere there must be a reference for these engines to date them - same as there is for VW's??

Indeed.
1971 year- 911T for "rest of the world" (not North American market), model had engine numbers 611 0001 to 611 3475.
Go to "Elferhelfer" and scroll down to 1971:

Although i think the 71 2.2T originally had twin triple throat Zenith carbs, while the Solexes were used by earlier models.

Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.
