And he de values all the busses in SA because once someone figures out the best way of importing second hand cars into sa restored bus will cost 100k killing our values and the hard working bus restorers business

Don't think he will get much business as those busses is lhd and not easy to register. Just thought it interesting that somebody wants to bring them in and take them.

Sorry, do not agree with you on this one, as his imports will be used as parts to rebuild the local buses, exactly as the Brazilia's are being used today.

To convert a Split from LHD to RHD will be to costly, just by the cost of the dash alone.

Lets just thank him for a cheap supply of spare parts.

I think registation will be a minor issue, import cost, taxes & duties on a complete import will break the deal.
I know a importer who brings in grey stock & American muscle cars, a car thas costs him around R100000 in the US by the time it lands & all costs & red tape paid he is looking at R220000.
The only whay around this is to bring it in as spares, with seperate shippments of chassis, engine and suspensions.
For what it's worth, ignorance has no limits ......

Yip I know a dude that does it with muscle cars. Arrive fully restored in a crate and takes a week and it's registered and on the road. It costs a few Zar u are right
