Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hi there, I look forward to being part of this forum. I have always been a VW fan, my first car being a 1972 Beetle 1600 and my current daily drive is a Jetta 6 TSI (Red).
Me and my son have been busy for the last 8 years with a project to build a fast toy
, the type 1 engine built was completed about 7 years ago, destined to go into a 1964 Beetle, then change of plan to go to a Porche replica, 60% through, change of plan again as we realise my son would not fit as he is 2.00m tall, back to a Beetle, this time a 1968, the project is nearing the end now, will post pictures once it's done.
Just been told that the first project beetle was a 64 and the current one a 68.

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hi All,
Im a newbie Wayne and just recently got my beetle. It kinda fell on my lap the day i was forced to sell my bike with my newborn and the fiancé rambling on how dangerous two wheels is. So instead of selling i swoped it for "Pampoen" (the beetles used to be corny badge on the back) and some cash as i saw this car needs to be saved from this owner.
Anyway this is my second beetle as my first one (a Baja) nicknamed "rusty"my brother and i heat ceased the engine on some dirt track in Bloemfontein and never saw it again after it was towed in. Awesome forum as it helped me fix 2 major issues on pampoen already

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hi guys, Jaco here. I'm actually a Ford fan but I inherited my late fathers Beetle a couple of years ago and unfortunately had to sell it. Since I sold it I thought about the car on many occasions and recently I got a hold of the new owner who where willing to sell it back to me. I'll be home in January as I work on a rig in Angola and will then be able to collect the car round about mid January. I can't wait and I'm bursting with excitement. It needs loads of work so I'll have many questions come next year. Anyway, I'll post some pics when I'm home. Merry Xmas and a happy new year to all.

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hi Guys!
Bought my first Beetle yesterday & LOVE it!!! Did the 300-kms from CT to Vredendal this morning & what a blast! It can cruz 100 / 110 km/h all day long!
Its a 74 1600 twin port. The previous owner spend a LOT of time & money on it, so I got it for a bargain! He kept all the invoices & footage from the build for me, WHAT A TRUE BEETLE LOVER! First car I bought that I get a 5L oil can & funnel with & when I stop at the petrol station people is taking pics of it! Haha! Thanks for this forum, I will definitely use your knowledge & advice in the future!

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, joined a couple of days ago.
I'm a total newbie as far as VW classics go. My girlfriend and I have recently moved to Blouberg, CT from Johannesburg and as part of the lifestyle change we've bought a 1975 baywindow kombi and are in the process of restoring her with the aim of doing some serious "road tripping" around SA and Africa in the coming years.
I'm super excited to be part of this forum and I'm looking forward to learning a ton about this community. The "bug" has definitely bitten
