Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.

That's a very odd image... Someone's been having a lot of fun with Photoshop.

Barndoor with later wheels? How is your barndoor coming along?

There are quite a few issues with the bus in that picture... The wheels are just the most obvious faux pas. :)

My bus is coming along well, thanks. We're making good progress, from all angles. There's a lot going on at the moment, so hopefully I'll have some new info' and photos to share over the next few weeks.

My thread on here was deleted, but you can follow its progress on the 'other' forum...

Please share all the faux pas with us who are less knowledgeable.

BTW, whatever was done to the image pre-dates Photoshop. I have lots of examples in my VW factory literature of touched up photos; mostly later upgrades applied to earlier buses.

I don't know when 15in wheels replaced 16in on buses, but I recall it was during the barndoor era, so barndoors with 15in wheels can be correct.

All barneys ran 16" "smoothie" rims (Lemmertz/KronPrinz) (second week of FEB, '55) up until the end of their production run. They are not the same as bug rims of the era.

Looking closer, it is an early body, with mostly early features (logo, wiper pressings, mirror arm, slider window catches, doglegs, jacking points, but it has late vent windows, late wheels (& tyres).

The bus appears to be based on a late prototype, looking at the rough lines. These crude lines can be seen in many of the prototype photos available online.

Thanks. I'm guessing that bus was a factory runabout, hence the mix and match. I have pics of a few of them in one of my books.
