To all the Type 3s I've loved before

Post by Pine »

I've had a few Type 3s crossing my path before, first one was this white Fasty I bought a few years ago on a farm outside Bloemfontein and towed back home with my beloved 412 Variant. It then went to IMPI, and is now the prized possession of Blitzkrieg.

The second one was this red Fastback I found on another farm, where it had been standing for some years...

I went to go and fetch it with a 1970 2-door 411 Fastback:

After I got home, I fitted the 14' Volvo wheels, which I had on my '67 Beetle with adapter plates. It looked pretty cool, but were too wide for the rear. It was at the heydeys of my Buggy obsession (see background), so the Fastback was passed on shortly afterwards, with the wheels:

BTW, the Fasty's original factory colour was black, with a white interior. I have never seen another factory black Type 3 in SA...

I had to concentrate on my studies, the Fasty's engine was shot, I had no bucks to repair it, no storage space, the Buggy was getting jealous etc. etc. etc.

P.S. A few seconds after this pic was taken, the damn horse bit me on my shoulder!

I love animals, but that horse really deserved the snotklap it got from me!

A pic of the interior of the car:
