I'm Kobie from the heart of central South Africa. You guest it good old Bloemmies. Newbie in the air cooled WV scene and a recent convert from the old English marque known for its nippie little BR green coffins. The Hippie is my first air cooled car and believe me the bug truly bit me good and solid. Must say that Herr fuhrer had a good concept here. On my English lady all my off time was spend basically repairing and patching her up and now I got so much free time on my hands that I'm actually bored with myself LOL. Only reason i opened the hood thus far is to check out the engin when I bought it and to check the oil level once a week. What a pleasure. One small warning guys. As I have said the bug bit me in a bad way so be warned I'm going to tap you dry for info and guidance on Germans best.

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Thanx Tony
The Hippie is due for some resto work although it will be a rolling resto being my only car at the moment. We already decided (that's the minister of finance and myself) that we are looking for a splitty or a fleetline as well. She love them so bad that its a theme in one of our rooms. Gents lesson learned never ever get your old lady involved in you hobby. Once the bite on the idea its worse than a pitt bull in a fight lol

Yeah Tony, for no reason one day I could not sign back in and was blocked out from signing or rejoining for some time. But I kept working it and found a back door of sorts and I am so glad to be back. Got lots to catch up on, but it seem like it is mostly still the old group on here which is good. How you been?

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Carrying on... still alive, so all good I suppose.
Yip, most of the "old guard" is still here. Its slow going at the moment with most having a long weekend (Easter) and spending it with the family.
Try to clear the "cookies" for acvwsa in your browser and then try log in again. Some people had some serious issues a while back and clearing cookies helped most people out.
How are you keeping? Hows the house rebuild?

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
HI All
I've been lurking around for a few days. Great forum with a wealth of good info. Mother in Law gave me her '74 beetle. She got it new as a student and has been in the family since. Too sentimental to sell but she also doesn't drive it anymore. I'm the happy new owner.
Breaks, , front suspension need a bit of attention. Was fitted with a REMTEC engine back in 2004, but is still running nicely. With all the knowledgeable guys on the forum, I don't think I'll have problems fixing her up.

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hello everyone!
I currently only own an air cooled lawnmower, but the idea is to soak up as much inspiration and knowledge as possible to build my own 356 replica. I am about as mechanical as a frikkadel, but I believe I have enough common sense to be able to put it all together. Also, I can read and write and from what I can tell this is the place to be for any info I need. I will probably be asking a LOT of questions, so please bear with me!
The grand plan is to build my own 356 Speedster that will not try to be a classic, but rather just a fun project that ends in a fun weekend driver.
I intend to share as much as I can in return, hoping to help anyone else who wants to live my dream
Thanks guys!
