Hi all, I am Riaan, and live in Cape Town.

I've been involved with aircooled VW's since 1993, and have owned the same car since then. It is a 1977 Beetle, which has been a "work in progress" since 1994. Progress has been slow, mainly due to the theme changing a few times along the way. The total bolt-and-nut rebuild has taken 21 years so far, with doing, and redoing things a few times. My dad's '59 split bus rebuild also jumped in there somewhere, but at least that's done now, and he is enjoying it!

Thanks to the forum members for providing a great source of advice and motivation to keep me going. The car will get done, eventually!

Riaan, please post some photos of your beetle. I am sure it something special if you busy with it for just over 20 years.

A photo of the bus wont hurt either. :)

Hi There. Alex Here.
I just got a lovely little 1970's beetle as my first car / project.
I'm hoping I can make some good connections and friendships as I sup up my beetle

Hi all, my name is Andrew

Joined the forum due to wanting to start a project with a bay window camper with my son (he's 6 and still learning the different tools but the one thing he does know is where the cold ales are and thats more than enough for me at the moment :D )
My other project is a late 70s beetle that im going to be hacking up into a obtrusively loud ratrod style buggy which will offend enthusiasts and pedestrians alike.

And now to peruse the wealth of info in this place and get my arse into gear.

Cheers

Evening folks, my name is Deo, from Pta. So glad to be on the forum, never knew we have so many aircooled enthusiasts in SA. I'm finally getting to put together my 62 Beetle that I have had for about 15 years and have been collecting parts for. Its a project i plan on doing alonside my father and his Karmann Ghia project. Plan is for a Resto Cal look result running a 1955cc motor. Tony Z i loved reading the whole of your thread and hope i will be able to call on you for some help in the future. Just trying my luck, has anyone out there built a motor using a waterboxer crank?
