4 free split buses; where are they now?

Post by fig »

Some volks may remember a few years ago I gave away 4 of the scrap split buses that had been standing in Stanford for years. I had bought a 57 kombi from the guy and didn't know the deal included the other four buses. There were two split double cabs and two kombis, IIRC.

Does anyone know where they are now? Have any of them been restored? Have they kept other buses alive? Are they still waiting for restoration?

and the laundry bus which I don't think was a part of your initial deal (?) remained there for a while - until Sean (foofunk) took it on - and it's proving to be a very cool project 8)

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

There was a German SC, but not the same as Paul's Fleetline SC.

I remember seeing the SC cab a few years ago, the dove blue one that was parked inside the shed - was in Cape Town at Volksie World I think - I recall it had damaged dropgates - but other than that - a lekker project - must search for a pic

Who took the "hearse" bus ?

There were actually 2 single cabs, the original paint, patina dove blue 58 you're referring to, as well as a later SC the similar green to your former plaas bakkie.

No one took the hearse bus; it was probably sold for scrap metal. I took a pic of it rusting into the ground with its roof rusted right through and blown half off by the wind. It was once a 57 palm green/sand green microbus. :(
