Had the weirdest thing happen to me over the weekend.
We were travelling to a friend's place close to a Godforsaken little place called Setlagole (Google it). Usually, travelling on our roads in the Northwest province can be quite challenging and sure enough, about three quarter of the way there, I heard (and felt) something smack into the front bumper with two warning lights flaring up moments later. Turns out something was picked up by the vehicle in front of us and smacked into one of the fog lights, completely shattering it.
After a few choice words, I removed the offending article and chucked it into the door pocket to have a look at later. Back home, I was able to have a closer look at it:
Imagine my surprise when I noticed a VW part number on the piece of crap - #221883865A
Somewhere in its former life, this thing used to be a clamp for the middle seat of a bus.
Unfortunately not rare or expensive enough to make up for the price of a new fog light but I found the idea of an old VW part banging up a new VW quite funny.

I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.

That is definitely one of the niftiest VW stories that I've encountered. Thanks for sharing.
On the subject, I could actually use that clamp, if it hasn't yet found a new home

No problem Merlin, the only other home would have been the dustbin.
PM me your address and I'll send it along.
