That's good news. Where did you mount the oil tank for the dry sump system? Elevation of this (in theory), does not matter while engine is running, but this is critical during start-up. If mounted too high, there may be starting issues, no oil pressure, and some smoke... Because, after standing for a while, oil has drained from tank and filled the sump. Was the oil pressure gauge and warning light connected, i do not see wires on the sending units?

After engine is switched off, oil starts to slowly flow from tank back into engine. Until equilibrium in height is achieved. The 911 oil tank has a sending unit inside for oil level, and an oil-level gauge on the dashboard.
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.

Hi Dawie,

Sorry for the late reply!

I dont have a very clear picture of the oil tank but from what I can see the top of the oil tank is about the height of the carburetors....perhaps you can gauge from this photo...then seem pretty level.

Also I dont think the oil pressure gauge and warning light were hooked up, I think it was just a short run, not to sure with those details Im afraid.

Looking to have this vehicle in turn key state by Friday.....IF all goes to plan it should be back in Cape Town soon where it will have a bit of a rest for a while....forced delays Im sorry to say.....Bank of Sean is broke :(

Thanks, at least the oil tank was'nt mounted above the engine.

You must be looking forward to having it back home.
