You can not get a reconditioned motor for R3800.......
Stripping Labor costs you R2000 already, never mind engineering cost, so what parts will you get for R1800....

To add to Marius's ad on gumtree; my dad also thought that beetle connection or rather Andre, had the best deal to offer on the net. We went to this bloke's house (and I know where you live you sorry sack of steaming 
), and the moment he tuned us some bs about the sub not being ready for collection, I told my dad to walk away. We're all looking for a 'great' deal in these tough economical times, so be it the fault on the guy that advertise his service wanting to make a seemingly 'honest' living, or the guy that tries to support the business - we're all being ripped off by these clowns. If anyone has had a similar experience dealing with Andre from beetle connection, please post your replies. I'm personnally putting the word out to everybody to stay away from this fool. And Andre, if your reading this, come Thursday and that engin is not ready to go (you have already been paid IN FULL), legal steps will be taken by myself to have you deliver on your promises. I'm completely against using this forum as a smear campaign against anyone or business, but this shite has to be stopped.

JMartinVW it is not a smear campaign just a discussion on an ad on Gumtree 
if he can put an ad on Gumtree for the world to see that he does such "good" work for stupid low prices
then i don't see why he can't be discussed on a public Forum
it just serves as a warning to others
schoolfees were paid by other people already
and if i can help by posting something on here so that people won't get taken advantage of ,
then i think i have done someone a favour by telling them about it
i do hope U get U'r engine or money back without having to resort to legal action

There are a number of R3.5k "engine rebuilders" out there. They are all scammers.
