Bay Window Scrapers\Beading install? procedure?
Hi guys,
for the rebuilders out there, can the guys perhaps give me a procedure as to how to re-install the front window components, specifically, new Scrapers, Glass Channel and the outer beading? I have received my complete kits from Just Kampers, and would like to do this properly, ONCE..
Any help appreciated?
thank you.

Thanks Muds, that looks perfect.. I will mentally prepare to resolve this soon. that beading is so fragile, I can see it's an easy thing to screw up, thus my question..
cheers

Tip: I always find it easiest to 1st install the inside scraper and then the outer one...
No worries Alan!

Jaa, it's the sequence of what goes back. My quarters are fine, they not moving, so it's the rubber surround,t he felt channel, the inner, and the outer\beading.. In your opinion, best sequence?

Best is to go through the whole cab door overhaul by Richard Atwell...
Interesting fact: the VW dealerships presented master mechanics with a trophy in the shape of a vent window after completing their final and hardest certification exam. LOL!! I told you this may be the hardest thing you will do.

Here's some comments from my restoration in 2012
And is it soft and does it work, is it local supply or import, will you fit mi......Sorry, got carried away...

LOL Herman, I’m getting good at this as this is the 2nd Kombi i'm replacing the outside window scrapers.
The 1st installation was a lot easier. I imported German quality from Busdepot in the US. It was a perfect fit and simply clipped in at the bottom. The beading was curved perfectly.
The 2nd order was from another supplier and a bit tricky. There were fewer clips to clip into the bottom of the door and the profile of the beading was not correct. I had to bend the beading to fit around the corners and had to shape the ends to fit into the frame. It is soft and easy to shape but flimsy.
My other mistake was that I didn't fit the window and window winder first. It cost me some time to strip and re-do. I hope this info helps.
Must agree, looking good, nice and neat - is that window scraper installation a mission or pretty straight forward ?
retrovan wrote:well done SIR, looking good
