Panhard
Although I've heard of these cars before, I saw this one for the first time Monday at a West Rand scrap metal dealer. Interesting features are the front wheel drive, front suicide doors and the single light below the headlights. I reckon this one is too far gone to be restored, but it must have been a beautiful car in its day. Sad to see it in such a state -

Nah - I didn't want to act like a vulture, and hopefully someone will buy the complete thing to restore. This is what it could look like some day -

To be honest, if anyone has the patience, passion and persistence to restore that car I couldn't care less where it end up. Currently it is destined to become bully beef tin..

Seriously, I had a close look at them, they are considerably larger than Beetle reflectors. Unfortunately they were both cracked.

Panhards have a strong precence in the racing/competition history of SA.
As a young boy I remember people racing them at the old Kyalami and also doing the old Castrol rally Pta to Maputo ( the LM) ---and they made it to the end--
One was available at a local pawn shop about a month ago R25000 not perfect but roadworthy . I wanted to take a few photos for you guys but it was gone when I returned with the camera
Very interesting engin compartment Flat twin a/c
Typical Frence wrong way around engineering so I would not not not think of restoring it.

Hi everyone,
I have just seen this article on a Panhard.... almost gone.... but, as I just managed to obtain a "Aircooled" one, a PL 17 and a CD both made by Panhard in 1964.
And I have spares and need spares, so I would like to talk to anyone that has same interest.
(I have also recently restored a "Aircooled" Citroen 2 CV and I am almost finished with a Traction Avant 1949....)
Looking forward to hear from anyone....
