Apparently the owner's son tried the vehicle's off-road abilities. Seems the electronic module/ can-bus got wet, causing malfunction. Then the tide came in, and he had to wait till low tide to be able to tow it out.

This has been covered with pics and video in the "Saltwater fishing" fb pages , they were full of brandy and doing donuts on the beach , serves him right ! 
in a phone interview he states they could'nt call for help " cos I lost my phone and my buddy who I don't want to name had a flat battery" lol

He is lucky it never got washed out to sea. I have seen a Toyota Hilux washed out to sea and washed back up 2 days later.
