What makes you say it was a Stirling? The regular Stirling racks that we all know and which were sold by VW dealers were very different.
I've always liked this one for its simplicity and attractive lines. Mine has been previously butchered, with the legs having been cut shorter and then lengthened again. I need to remake them. I have no idea who made it.

My Fleetline had a full length one I found it at a second hand shop in Edenvale and talked the owner down to R700 ( and thyen still had the ckeek to ask if I could pay it off and take it straight away, I worked right next door)
Yes, that's the Stirling rack sold through VW dealers. Completely different design to this one for sale.
The rack for sale is still an unknown make. This is the first one I've seen since acquiring mine. I had wondered if it was home made. Mine also came without clamps; I made my own by making custom brackets to grip the rack and the gutter rail, with a builder's turnbuckle welded between them.

Any chance of posting some pics of the above please, I am also looking for some ideas to fix a homemade unit to my crew cabs roof.
Thank in advance.
