Re: Porsche for Panel Van
Awesome, so this week has been pretty good.
I paid my deposit to my restorer and set a timeline and budget for the next 8 months. I officially ship my vehicle off this weekend to begin the 1st of October. I also maybe in with some luck on the engine and gearbox side as I have been researching this for quite some time and am pretty confident I can go with a 1978-1981 Porsche 911 3.0L with a 915 gearbox.
I need to make a call on Monday to find out but hopefully some good news. Not to sure on the rear suspension, from what I understand I need the suspension from a 944 but not entirely convinced yet, if all else fails I could always order some parts from Creative Engineering
VW+Porsche=Awesome
P.s....I will never sell, hehe

Re: Porsche for Panel Van
Ive been waiting 4 years to finally, properly reply to this particular post...I will admit it has helped with my determination to complete this build but I would like to just drop one or two pics of my 1958 panel van with my Porsche engine.
All in all I find positive reinforcement better than negative comments but Im just glad I could prove the naysayers wrong. The bus isnt quite on the road just yet, Im about a month away but it really has been a long, difficult but rewarding journey.
To all those wanting to do something different, do something YOU want to do, I say do it, dont worry about what anyone else says , sure listen to their constructive advice but do what makes you happy even if others dont agree with your particular choices.
If anyone is interested is seeing my build progress from start to finish you can find me on, Youtube, FaceBook, Instagram - all with the tag The Wahey Bus
Enjoy
Sean
P.s to those of you who dont know, this is the orginal Perfecto, Droogskoonmakers - the one which was apparently unrestorable

Re: Porsche for Panel Van
Thanks all, its greatly appreciated!!
I know Ive had some comments on the rims, I think once the last few parts are on it will all tie in together but then again the beauty about the wheels is......they can be changed!!
Indeed, see you all on the road SOON

Re: Porsche for Panel Van
About 20 years ago I was working in Worcester, Perfecto was just around the corner from me. Saw two of the red buses in their garage, and thought a lot about asking if they were available, but a serious lack of funds nixed that idea! If only.....
Kudos to you on the build!

Re: Porsche for Panel Van
Hi Loopy,
Its crazy actually, I contacted them the other day when I was going to do a post on FB and I know the bus was built in October 1958 but found out Perfecto Droogskoonmakers have been around and still are since 1958!! Also when the bus is hopefully finished next month October it will be 58 years old!!
How CRAZY is that!!
I think I need to get a lottery ticket.... 58 58 58 58 58
Thanks for the support!!
