'70 Westfalia Project

Well now that she is parked in my yard I can show my new project. Not that I don't have enough projects, but a Kombi was always on my radar.
The fact that I managed to get a Westy is a bonus. Thank you Fig for your assistance with assessing my purchase.
So, I will appreciate any offers of advice, colour code, spares availability ...
I would like to get her back to close to original as possible. Currently she has a 2l Toyota 3Y engine which runs well when warm but I haven't been able to drive her much yet.

Interior is still very good. Louvre windows still work and very little rust other than the obvious on the pictures. Tent has seen better days but is still functional.
Requires proper seats, and I need to look at the electrics. Has a start button in engine bay

Does the ignition switch still work i.e you have 2 options to start the motor ? I suppose that could come in handy if you are trying to tune it on your own or something

Not sure about original ignition switch. It has a button on the dash that just draws a lot of current but does not start the engine but should so there is another backup in the bay. That will get a priority to sort.

NIce find Once it has a nice respray it will look great...Fortunately electrical work is not a major expense on these kombi's. It looks like a '69-'71 lowlight, which are increasingly hard to find, so any expenditure will just add to its increasing value.

Thanks guys, spent most of today trying to remove the unnecessary tupperware, like ladder,spots, old wiring and then made sure all lights work. Some globes were 24V .
Anyway I am looking for proper Kombi seats in front. Currently she has BMW seats which are not moveable.
I also pitched the tent but unfortunately time has taken its toll and it is very fragile although the side walls are like new.
Anyone here able to tell me where the original spare wheel was fitted and also where the tent poles were stored? My tent poles are fitted on the side on what looks like home made fittings.

The original spare wheel stowage is under the passenger front seat, which should be a bench. Tent poles should go in the compartment under the rear rock 'n roll bed. It looks like your Westy was owned by one of those old guys who made weird and wonderful modifications to the bus...I've had some of those too

I reckon Naked Fury has come off worse with the tin worm (VW acne) but good luck and many happy years on the road.

Thanks Madbones, do you have the colour code for yours? What does the interior look like and the bed covering. Just want to compare as mine seems aftermarket.
