I'm just putting this out there for whoever may be interested,
Renault Northcliff posted an ad to sell a car by using a Beetle as example and referring to a cluncker, we are a bunch of guy's feeling very offended by this and want to deal with it, I highly doubt that this ad is endorsed by Renault SA as Northcliff is the only dealer with this ad and looks like a narrowminded sales pitch to escalate sales, if you feel like us please feel free to leave comments on their site and join us in a possible peacefull demonstration to remove the Beetle or change the ad, also see FB https://www.facebook.com/groups/8067815 ... cation=ufi

There's really no need to take offense to this, it's just an advertisement.
Realistically, down here in the cape, beetles are still mostly clunkers, especially the ones from Best Beetle. Nissan 1400 bakkies may be slightly worse though.
I agree with Sean. Being offended because people use our once ubiquitous old cars as an example of a clunker seems pointless.
Quite frankly, I'd rather drive an old wreck of a Beetle than any new Renault. Or any old Renault, for that matter. If they have to stoop to slagging off a particular old car to sell their crappy wares, it says a lot more about them and the garbage they're trying to flog than it does about our old cars or us as enthusiasts.
By all means complain on the website, but the best thing we can all do to protest is to NOT buy a Renault or any car from that dealer.

I GOTTA BE HONEST. I SAW THIS AD WHEN IT WAS FIRST POSTED BUT I DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER READING THE PRINT IN IT.
THAT BUG POPPING OUT OVER THE RENAULT MADE IT FOR ME. I BELIEVE THAT A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS AND THAT EDITOR GOT THOSE 2 VEHICLES POSITIONED INCORRECTLY. VW DEFINITELY THE WINNER THERE! THINK ABOUT ANY ACTION COMIC YOUV'E EVER SEEN OR A PICTORAL CARTOON. ALWAYS THE "KAPOW!" IS THE WINNER; THE BIG HIT.
PERSONAL OPINION....
RENAULT JUST UPPED THE SALES AND RENEWED THE INTEREST IN VW'S.
