1974 Beetle - BEE

So got my beetle back from my local mechanic and most of the mechanical things are sorted out

Had to go and pay outstanding license fees to get it registered just over 4 k almost getting annoyed with this whole issue again but it is done and dusted.

Drove her back to my place and was an awesome drive. Electronic ignition fitted and since the exhaust was vrot he fitted a new 4 in 1 exhaust and she has some attitude now.

I was thinking of a name and when I parked her found this on the dash


I think the Vw gods is trying to tell me something

Will start with the rostyles and get the tyres off, get them sandblasted and attempt to do the painting myself.
Was thinking of removing the rust myself but then started thinking about doing it properly and will rather get them sandblasted and do the primer and painting myself.

New tyres will go on after the 16th when I have some funds again.

Here are some pics. My idea is to let my daughter use her as a daily driver and have my twin sons learn to drive stick with BEE they just turned 17 in June and they are going for their learner licenses soon.

I am sure I will take her if my daughter allows on an Aircooled outing or two









Once they have left a few scratches and bumps which I really hope they are not going to do I will send her for a total respray and rust removal. The people I got her from loved the putty and did a poor job.

She does have a small knock in the engine which I will sort out with a rebuild once they are done with her.

Will post under projects as well so I can add progress on the wheels and when she goes in for the respray and engine rebuild.

Driving her back from the mechanic I got the Vw fever all over again and cannot wait to get my 72 crossover started and also started putting my ugly paws out there for a early bay single cab.

Idea being to use the single cab as a Bakkie for myself as a daily driver and since I am into computers get that tool treasure chest sorted with some kind of pull out shelf where I can put client computers and laptops to hide them from affirmative shopping.
They are just going to be so exposed in a kombi and will hate to have it breaked into.

Bugger has one that I love with rostyles exactly what I want but have to curb my enthusiasm till I have more funds available.

The crossover is going to eat into my savings as well so really have to keep my head level.

Rossis went in for some sandblasting and edge primer.
Cannot wait to get them back they will get some tlc as well









Tyres ordered as soon as they are back BEE wil be on her way for roadworthy.

those rims look good as they are.
Ever thought of going for matt black for the background and gloss black for the spokes (the bit thats usually chromed)

I played around with it a bit and my thoughts are that the rims are going to disappear. I want to try and stay a bit original on this build. Chrome on those will be ideal but it is just too expensive. I also think they look good in the Matt black but going to go for silver and black. My daughter and two boys are going to drive it most of the time and do not want too spend too much on this one. I am sure they will add some dents and scratches yes even on the wheels.

Once they are done with BEE I will spend some more moola and time on her.

For now starter, rims redone, new tyres and on the road will be what they need. Most other Mechanicals already sorted.

.........as well as some black striping similar to the SP or Fun Bug.

Not tacky, but nice clean lines, will go very well with the canary yellow......

Herman I tried to search on the Internet for a sample of the black lines you are talking about do you maybe have a pic or two for me please.

There are a number of great style stripes out there, but here are the VW stripes.

i would not copy them direct, but use a mixture of the two or something.

Herman thanks I thought you were talking about striping on the rims. I looked at all the rostyle pics I could possibly find and could not find anything. I was thinking at one stage of turning it into a jeans edition especially the interior and trim on the inside but for now she will have to stay canary. Maybe I will reconsider once the kids are done with her.

Will just get some center caps as well once I have the tyres fitted.
Old ones will have to do till the cash comes in again
