Not sure what he wants to put it in.

If VW, the 6 may be too big......

if its more power you want, the beetle engine is capable of producing pretty good numbers.

Bear in mind with the T4 engine that you need a different cooling system and this adds a pretty penny onto the cost of the project

As Tony said, the type 4 motor will not fit as is.

So you will have to change the Cooling fan and plates.

OR you can get someone like TonyZ to build you a mother of all engines from a standard beetle block.

just have a look at this madness........ http://www.aircooledvwsa.co.za/viewtopi ... 23&t=14775
If you look at "American Outlaws" that Bug is just as fast as the "Farmtruck" which itself has run away from many a super sports car.

914 used the type 4 engine, but 904 used the 4 cam Furnman engine. If you find one at a decent price let me know[emoji6]

Korb - you need a budget and an idea of what you want and what car it is going into.
pm me if you want to go into details.
The one thing that I can tell you is that a fully spec street engine with nearly 200hp is going to set you back around 100K in todays money. 140hp is much cheaper. 90hp is a heck of a lot cheaper but each engine's price depends on exactly what you want.
Bear in mind that 90hp in a beetle will run away from a lot of cars out there. 120hp will push the new GTi if they got a bad start.
Power to weight ratio is where the beetle wins (and the low gearing) and the beetle is light
