Re: Porsche 718 RSK Replica
I had the car at the Aircooled Motor Show on Sunday that was held at the Pretoria Old Motor Club. It was the only 718 there and people loved it!

I also had a shoot at Zwartkops Raceway on Monday so I took the little Porsche and took a few shots of it inbetween the actual work...

Re: Porsche 718 RSK Replica
Thanks guys! I also did a few laps with the car on the track. Handling is amazing - but the 1600 Beetle engine is waaaaay too underpowered. It probably makes 15-20wkw
Weighed the car on the scales at Z to 549kg. 635kg with me in it.
Only manage to get up to 112km/h down the backstraight with a passenger. In my VW Golf race car I get up to 163km/h.
It would be great to have more power and then to go race the car in the Historics Handicap Series. But for now it's just nice to drive it around town whenever I feel like it!

No that wasn't me sorry - I'm mostly out in Pretoria East and didn't drive the car yesterday.Jdt1976 wrote:Sure I saw you yesterday on Peter rd in Ruimsig?

I really really don't like RSK's, in fact I like them less than pumas, (as usually they're just not done right) , I have to admit though that I like the stance on yours and the overall feel of it........it's the effort that's been made with the space frame that sets up the whole car..........dude, I really like this car.

Re: RE: Re: Porsche 718 RSK Replica
Thanks, and I fully agree with you. I find the VW pan based ones completely wrong. Suspension always looks wrong and the car runs a km off the ground with positive camber that boggles the mind. This car in the flesh sits so low it makes VW pan based ones look like they are climbing over it.flatfourfan wrote:I really really don't like RSK's, in fact I like them less than pumas, (as usually they're just not done right) , I have to admit though that I like the stance on yours and the overall feel of it........it's the effort that's been made with the space frame that sets up the whole car..........dude, I really like this car.
They also don't handle cause all the weight is at the back - engine, gearbox and fuel tank. They then don't want to turn or stop. This one on the other hand is an absolute hoot.
I took it to Cullinan on Sunday with the gf and some friends and on the B-roads it ran with such ease at a constant 120km/h. I'm amazed at how well the suspension dealt with the bumps in the road.

Hey Alfaquad!
That is a great looking rendition of the RSK! I'm assuming you are the same alfaquad as on simracesa? And we are in the same area as well. I came trawling through here looking for inspiration for 2017. Very nice!
Cheers, Bjorn
