Hi all,
My youngest daughter will be terrifying other road users in the next 4 or so months, so I have to get her a vehicle. She has her heart set on a beetle but Im really not sure if this is the right decision based purely on the reliability and safety factors that more modern vehicles have.
Please give me your opinions on beetles for students.
What happened to Beetle buddies that used to be in Randburg?
Thank you

Re: First Car - Beetle?
Beetle Buddies closed down years ago. I heard a lot of horror stories about their work.
I am often asked by parents to help them find a Beetle as a first car for one of their offspring. I always ask them the same question: "Is your daughter/son a mechanic, or are they prepared to become one?" If the answer is no, I recommend they rather buy a more modern hatchback.

Thank you Fig.
That is my opinion also and I have too many vehicles that I work on and play with to add to the list.

Agree 100% with Fig. I use the same strategy.

Get a Beetle,
and a good new reliable car with euro-cap 5 safety rating.............
Now the tricky parts........
She gets the new car to keep her safe.....
You get the beetle because its FUN........
Problem sorted.
