I've bought a 1965 beetle that has seen better days and now want to restore it. The first job is some panel beating and a total re-spray. A question I have is does anyone one of a good old school panel beater and spray painter? I don't want someone to slap on body filler and spray over, I accept there might be some filler required but would like most dents to be panel beaten out first and then filled if required. Also want a quality paint job.
Please let me know. The body has been sanded down to metal already and all panels and doors have been removed.
See photos below. Any assistance or recommendations for this work will be greatly appreciated.
Im in Randburg. Let me know if more pictures are required.
wow, looks lik eyou have put a fair bit of effort into it already.
I cant help you with a painter, but I'd suggest you go one step further and put a coat of paint on it yourself. Not as a final product, but as a rust prevention. Remember, undercoat doesnt protect against rust.

Thanks, I was thinking about putting on rust protection but didn't know what to put on and if it will affect the final coat. I see there is another guy who suggested a product to put on. I will investigate and see what's it's all about
what ever you put on is only good short term, If you treat it with a rust converter, and then primer it, it should hold good for a short time up in JHB.
But to prevent the rust from re-starting, you need to get a clear coat onto it as fast as possible.

Very true. Just been through this with my new Racecar after a panel shop left the body out in the rain then sprayed over the surface rust. We have now removed the wide body kit and are now sandblasting it down again due to all the rust that's coming through.
You welcome to contact me and visit the shop to view a few projects Pierre 0826008663
