I enclose photo of the vin plate for my recently aquired (in the UK) 1967 VW Kombi. Imported to the UK in 2014
It was exported to SA from Germany in knock down form.
I was wondering if there was anyway of finding out its history during the 40 odd years it was in SA, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I can't see the pic of your VIN plate at work, so can give no info on that for the moment.
It's unlikely you'll be able to trace any history unless you communicate with previous owners or find someone who knew your bus. South African licensing authorities don't keep historical ownership information on cars.
Good luck with your quest.

Hi all unfortunately I have no information on the van prior to it being imported (not by me) into the uk.
Enclosed some images It looks like it was kept under a lean to as the nearside roof floor etc was pretty rusty as you can see from the pictures off side not at all bad with hardly any welding.
