Just a pic to revive the thread. Also have the bus in my name. As the 2nd registered owner. (It's not what you know it's who you know kinda deal) super happy to have plates on.

Need to source an indicator relay (R550) 2nd hand at volkspares. Eish!!

Need to source these panels for the nose. Its badly rusted and found accident repair was done with shyte load of filler and fibreglass. Going to cut it out and replace. Now to find those panels. The search is on though. Expensive indeed so the options are to find a decent 2nd hand hopefully.
Import myself or get through volkspares. Waiting for the holidays to end and shops to open again to get the prices on those parts. But if someone knows of a back smash decent bus being cut up.....

The pieces I've already gotten from volkspares.
Front lower panel and floor pan replacement drivers side. Yup I know I need to cut and adapt for right hand drive. But exciting to get new metal for the bus. It's a start.

Baybee, got the relay as TZ suggested got a generic, works great. Plagued with lots of electrical issues anyway.

My Westy BAYby
Hey guys, update on the Baywindow Westfalia.
as the thread goes, not much happened after getting it licenced and legal, lots of paperwork and knowing people.
soooo finally decided to take the leap into the restoration of the westy. Plan is complete strip down of the body, not doing a body of resto as I found it not completely required. will be removing all the Paint to bare metal and start with a bare canvas body wise. will then repair the rust, and rotten metal, cut out and weld in new steel where required, and get replacement panels if required, biggest aim is to get the low light indicators back in there.co
will be refitting the original Westfalia interior, cupboards, bed etc. sadly I dont have the original Sink cupboard so will be getting creative with that when the time comes. As I am the 'technical Director' and NOT OWNER as the wife seems to think, she is in charge of he final product/look and i will just advise on why it would or will not work.
all in all no Rush to get the job done, and although a concourse would be the best.... its will probably not get there, but highest quality that allows would be done.

the bus of to its temporary place of residence for the body work.

Nice to hear the the westy is getting what it deserves, I must just warn you ( if you do not already know or if has been fixed) but the sliding door has a fair amount of body putty on it.
When I fitted the indicators under the bumper I only closed up the original holes for the indicators with fiberglass.
I may have some metal panels such as rear corners for you if required all be it from a highlight S C

getting our Strip tease on.....
A bay has very little to remove on the outside, the inside wasa bit harder. all the original westy cupboards and bed was removed carefully. The cupboards are in good nick, with a bit of water damage on the bottom of one side, that was due to the window rubbers leaking i would guess.
ALL the paint is being removed, will remove all the paint, filler, rust and gunk before prep begins.

Using a sanding disk and wire wheel to remove the paint. Wire wheel was the suggestion from a good friend, and the sanding disk is also getting good mileage, everything is being done with care, not to cause warping or and hectic damage to the metal.... WHICH IS F#$%^KING IN GREAT CONDITION!!!

If you dont mind me saying although possibly late, please be careful with the wire wheel. They sometimes leave very deep scratches that are harder to fill if they are not used carefully. Rather use the scotch type paint strippers. Takes a bit more elbow grease but they dont damage the surface. Great looking bus btw. I really do need a low light Westfalia in my life!
