Blou job the Beetle
Late last year I felt the urge to do some good. I had to adopt a puppy, an orphan or buy a car.
Seeing that I already had two dogs, I opted for option two but my wife saw no need for me to care for our neighbor's 26 year old blond bombshell
So, a Beetle it was.
I felt sorry for the car due to the horrendous colour it was painted. It seemed fairly dry and the engine purred like the neighbor's daughter....I mean like a kitten. Anyway, when we stripped the paint, like most painted cars, it revealed it's true colours I was so shocked that I never took before picture but here you can see the colour and some of the repairs that was started.

New parts and metal were welded in but must say the rest was not too bad.
The initial estimation was 4 to 6 weeks...I have heard that so many times before and yet fall for it every time. Despite slow progress, at least there was progress. In no time at all, about 3 months, we we in primer

Re: Blou job the Beetle
Initially, I was gonna go for original L87 Pearl white but it was a bit bland for my liking, so I opted for L390 Gulf Blue. I'm quite happy with the outcome

Got the car back from paintshop yesterday and am very happy with the color. Will go for roof lining and carpets on Monday and I will post pics as it goes along.

Like the colour, but yes pics of the neighbors daughter might help establishing the correct choice.
Get her to sit in the beetle.

Re: Blou job the Beetle
You must mean ON........ ON the beetle
We need to do a FULL evaluation not a Passport photo sighting.

Re: Blou job the Beetle
Half way into the rebuild, an old friend called me, asking me if I know of a Beetle for sale. His son's girlfriend needed, no wanted an old Beetle! Told him about the one I was busy with. Asked how much I wanted but at that stage, I was not looking to sell so had no idea. Gave him my estimate on what it would cost in the end and he said it's fine, they'll take it. Now I told him how much it would cost to finish the damn thing, not what I would sell it for but as friends go, he got his way and he agreed to buy it
I did not do any of the work and probably lost my shirt due to the time I had and the people I had to use to finish the car but in the end, when a 20 odd year old French girl, wants an old Beetle, she gets it. Came to collect on Saturday. Now my wife will have no option but to let me take care of the neighbor's daughter
And away she goes
