Re: Retrovans 75 Fleetline panelvan - Project
So it has been some time since i posted some progress on the Fleetline.
So Here goes.
Been building up the brake system and hope to bleed them today.
Edited;- Brakes bled, and all working fine, so now I can stop, if only I can get going....
But have been doing the R & D of the "Flip Over" Front seat back rest.
As I wanted it to do many things, I build a "Provisional" seat base and Seat rest for the testing and fitment trails.
So what ever you do do not comment on the upholstery as then everybody will know you have not read this thread but only commented on what you see.Like faassbook.
As the bus will be used as a camper, the spare wheel presented a problem, and as it looks koooole on the roof rack, thats not where it can live permanent.
I also needed a "Tool Box" so you will see where they all landed up........
Will be fitting one of my Rock & Roll beds in the back, and as there is always a seating problem I decided that the front seat will have to do Double Duty for the the cabin as well.
Then what if a grand child wants to come with, well we will be needing a small bed as well then....
What if a big guy wants to drive the bus, you can not get the seat back on these Fleetline's so we will have to make it do that as well......
This list gets longer and longer. BUT I think we got it....
You be the Judge
Here you go with seat in normal position for driving....
Here is the seat in the Rear position....
Here the seat is in the Child Bed Mode......
Here the seat is in the position ready for base to be lifted.....
And here is the Spare Wheel and "Tool Box"......
And back with the seat in the driving position with the slide in back brace, if you can see it...
Well now that that all works, I can carry on with the rest of the bus, already have the wires run,
Forgot to mention that it locks in place in all positions.
When the seats get re-upholstered, I will fit a Hole in the base for the seat belts.
So till next time...
Thanks for looking.
Herman

Re: Retrovans 75 Fleetline panelvan - Project
So spent some time under the Fleetline, and got neared getting her on the road
Toys arrived from all over,
so now the twin 34 ICT Webers are waiting in the wings to be fitted
to the motor thats on it way
The blue Bosch coil is ready to fit to the new electronic ignition.
The new Swivel pin kit was fitted with new bushes this evening.
The new brake dicks where fitted to the front axle
The new engineered adapter disks where fitted to bring the wheels back to wide 5 bolt rims on front axle.
The new steering damper was fitter to the now new steering system.
Just waiting for steering lock/ignition system parts to get her back to stock, as the old system was hacked out and destroyed before I got her.
Well thats all till next time

Re: Retrovans 75 Fleetline panelvan - Project
Ignition parts arrived from Brazil today, so now i can get the wiring going again.
But before i fit it, I think I need to strip the Steering box and fix wear play.
Any one know what wear parts to look for and where to get them. ??

As this is a family forum, It would not be appropriate to post photo, as this may stick out to be a pain full break in growth of this forum.......

Re: Retrovans 75 Fleetline panelvan - Project
OK so a lot is going on with the Fleetline build, as we want it to go to Sani.
Motor has arrived and I have fitted the 34 ICT webers.
The new front wheels have been fitted to completer the new stance.
The steering box has been removed rebuilt by my self and will be going back in . Just as a matter of fact..
The Fleetline box is not the same a the Split German bus, but is of the same type of construction to the Bay with the wheel system as can be seen on the photo's.

Re: Retrovans 75 Fleetline panelvan - Project
OK so had you looked carefully, you would have seen the PO had cut all the metal out of the engine bay.
So I needed to make up side steel to bring the body back to the engine tins and fit a rubbers seal strip.
The steel work had to be cut to shape and a form of "C" strip had to be fitted to slide the engine rubber into.
So just to get to par for the course, from all the welding, I was rewarded with arc eye's but still completed the job.
The "C" strip was made of these cheap curtain rails and welded to the side of the steel work.
All is well and the seal is now complete.
Found the Doghouse back tin and doghouse air deflector set and will be fitting them today.
Till next time
Herman
