Jack’s 1973 Beetle 1600 help please
So I bought a Beetle for the Sani Pass trip and there’s a few things which needs sorting.....
First question is where is the reverse light switch on this vehicle? Autolec’s are puzzling...

The reverse light switch should sit on the driver-side of the gearbox nose cone. You should be able to access it from underneath the car.

The road rules clearly state that you dont specifically need a reverse light
from memory, the rule goes
"If the car is fitted with a reverse light, it may have a maximum of 2 and all lights need to work. "
"If" being the operative word!!

Thanks for the responses...so is it safe to assume that if there is no reverse light switch on the drivers side of the gearbox nose cone that my Beetle should then also be fitted with tail light lenses without the reverse light panel in it...?

Ok, reverse light switch found and reverse lights are working. Brake lights are still a problem. When you bridge out the switch then lights are working, so the wiring to the lights are fine. The autolec reckons that he heard that if brake pressure is not strong enough then the brake switch won’t activate....Does this sound right, and what am I to do?

If your brakes work, then its your brake switch,
Only a few rand from Midas.
If you are fast, you may not even have to bleed the brakes again.
