You can have my old Hazet assistent when this one’s Resto is completed. Just have to feed it once or twice a day

I know it is a bit fugly but let’s see how it turns out after a bit of resto
Thanks Fig managed to get it standing

And maybe this means something trying do decifer

Not sure but looks like it only has one brakeable / lockable wheel
The other castor looks original but cannot see whether the brake mechanism was removed maybe it has only one ?

Appropriately named Skidmore I see as well.
Yours all original or did you have to repaint and touch up as well ?

Re: Hazet tools
Both of mine and all the ones I've seen have brakes on both the swivelling front wheels.

Hi Fig, know you can not see photo's on the salt-mine computer, so just for info, it looks as if he has an early 3 wheeler.fig wrote: Tue Aug 14, 2018 10:13 amBoth of mine and all the ones I've seen have brakes on both the swivelling front wheels.

Re: Hazet tools
Haha. Only photo hosting sites are blocked. I actually can see the pic. I've never seen a 3-wheeler and that's definitely not an early one. It has post-1965 Hazet logo and looks like a 1980s or 1990s version with black top tray and both knobs in black, instead of one being blue. The very early ones (mid-1950s) had only 2 trays, not 3.
@beetlepower, is it stamped Made in Germany or Made in W Germany on the side?

Re: Hazet tools
Apologies. The angle of the pic is hiding one of the wheels. It is in fact a 4 wheeler. As far as I can see the paint is still original. I only acquired this one a couple of months ago and I think the previous owner named it skidmore as the runner on one of the wheels is not lekker anymore. One knob is black and one green? I will have to double check the stampings tonight

Re: Hazet tools
The red hand painted one has 4 wheels definagely and one green and one black on top. One of the beads are missing on the one shelf
Skidmore I think it was called because of the one brake only. It does stop but once locked it tends to skid a step or two. Just my thinking.
Ah well will see how it pans out in the end will be cool to know which model it actually is. 166 or 166c or whatever it might end up being.
Just stoked that I picked it up and it turned out to be original

Re: Hazet tools
Congratulations Freddie. Regardless of the colour, these are really useful pieces of equipment, and so much cooler for being VW approved for VW workshop use. It's changed my life having all my tools handy wherever I'm working.

Re: Hazet tools
Might start a little thread on how the restore goes with a few pics etc and take it from there. But lot more pressing things to do now than fixing this one up.

Ah ok
Reason for asking is that I used to work with a guy with surname of Skidmore for many years.
