Just to add to theconfusion,......it isstill positve earth,.......from what I can gather is that the 2 white wires can be swopped over ,....dont quite know what that means

You will have to find out with a multi meter if the rev counter part of the unit is connected to the outer body.
If the outer body is metal and IS connected to the rev counter internals, then you would have to insulate the body of the meter from the car body
If there is NO connection then you can connect it any which way.

Yip,.. sort of,...after nearly burning the car to the ground !!
Changed it to negative earth,...got the dashin only to find outthat the revcounter is blown,...and the speedo cable is so worn it just does'nt fit the square in thespeedo,.....so we have a bit of work to do on this lot
Other gauges all work,..and for the trip we ran on the GPS to stay on the right side of the law
The blue car,..the four letter word not to bementioned on this forum is interesting,...the first time I saw it,....I thought nice, but could not pinpoint what the fus was. Leon sent me backto go and check it out again!,.....and then I realised what he has done to it!!!
Mr V6,. the only constant is "change" !!!!
so now Leon has sold the Anglia and got a "64 Zephyr Zodiac Mk III 6 cylinder approx 2.5 cc,..... and to cut a loooong story short !!
we have now got a 36 DCD7 carb on it BUT........to get the jetting sorted is more than a pain in the rear !!!
Ingnition is "electronic" and set,... new leads and plugs,.. so that side of the equation is sorted.
Cannot get it to rev up,... keeps on flooding which seem to indicate main jet too big started of with 130 main and 180 air with a F23 emulsion tube. It is as if you are pouring fuel down the choke !!!
currently,... 110 main and 210 air ,...idles the tank empty and dies when butterfly is opened,....indicating very little fuel,....main too small,..which makes sense me thinks
changed to 115 main with the same 210 air and....we are back again with the flooding story !!!!
I just cannot catch a break here !!.......ps running with 26 /27 choke tubes.
I have changes jetting about the umpteenth time,.... and just cannot get a break here.
what say you ?

Is it not your surge pump on the carb that is delivering too much fuel as you open the chock.
Maybe disconnect it for your trails, and then work out when it should open, and change the swivel point to dial down the fuel delivery.

flooding is a bad needle and seat.
changing main and air jets wont do anything unless you are driving.
have you tried adjusting the stroke of the pump jet arm?
Herman & Tony,.....pump jet I checked,......squirting ok. we removed carb and believe that the manifold "throat" is way too small and too close to the carb.
If needle &seat is leaking,.... would it not flood over the top of carb to outside ?,......this "thing" will idle the tank empty,.....no issue.......
So,......both removed carb & manifold will be on it's way to a "specialist" in Capetown to sort manif and jetting out on a flow testbench.
