I joined a while ago, but haven't been much involved yet. My wife and I got a 1975 T2 Kombi Panel Van / Camper three years ago. We've got it painted and have had a bunch of issues with the engine. I'm now finally getting around to sorting out the interior. Puts a smile every time on my face when I drive the kombi.
Yes it is fun driving, I too have a 72 Panel Van, lots of joy.

Hi all. Im new on the on site registered. Haha, been using your advice as a guest for a month now with help on my 1982 1600 twinport i recently purchased. Needless to say i was caught by this person who has now literally dropped off the face of the earth. Cellphone off, fake address etc. But i see this as a good project to keep myself going after my meltdown. Lots of rewiring to be done and work on the motor and body
Welcome Licons. I also once bought a Beetle that was a bit misrepresented. I had to fix a lot of things but I also learnt a lot of new things that I might not have done otherwise. Apart from fixing wiring issues I made my own A-pillar repair sections, so I had to learn some fabrication skills. I'm glad you're looking at the bright side of your bad experience.
Hi all, I joined yesterday and recently purchased a long wheel base Beach Buggy that has a 1600 twin port motor. I intend using the buggy to get from my home to the local fishing spots here in Mtwalume on the KZN South Coast. I need to do some work to the buggy such as fitting fishing rod racks etc before I begin using it. Many of my family members have owned Beetles, Kombis etc at some stage in their lives.

Hi guys i am an old toppie from dunnottar and have a beautiful vw kombi t3 panelvan that i convert i a type of a camper with a bed and fridge.
the problem is because of the conversion the bed is to close to the roof can i cut the roof and make it higher is there any idees out there.

Oom fred, there were vehicles that were made with a higher roof, but I think most of them actually had storage above the bed thus lowering the height again.
The roof is a structural part of the car and helps to keep the body from flexing and warping. I would seriously think twice before cutting out a section without adding strength members to keep everything else in place.
Wouldnt it be easier to use a slightly thinner mattress?

I really don’t understand this. It would look so much better and also be so much easier to simply remove what ever terrible engine is causing this raised lid engine bay and simply put it back to original to restore engine lid height again.
